I got pulled over for my tail rewire. He said that my "hazards were stuck on." I showed him how the red served as the blinker and hazard, but he wasn't buying it. I asked him, "So, can I Not have red blinkers?" and he said, "No, you just can't have your hazards on all the time." "Well, those aren't my hazards." "Yes they are."

He was cool though and gave me no ticket. Turns out we went to the same Highschool.

So, who can I call to make sure those are legal? Maybe I could just change the orange color to something else. Hmmm...

Ideas?

Pulled Over

You need to check your state motor vehicle code for that kind of stuff. In PA window tint is illegal. A cop can pull you over and fine you for it, but it's not on the state inspection list so it WILL pass inspection. Figure that out! I got pulled over for smoked head light covers and a clear license plate cover and he didn't even ask about anything that actually mattered. Happy reading.

DANG!

I think I found it. Here it is:

(5) All lighting devices and reflectors mounted on the rear of any vehicle shall display or reflect a red color,
except the stop light or other signal device, which may be red or yellow, and except that the light illuminating the
license plate shall be white and the light emitted by a back-up lamp shall be white.

Doesn't that look like it says I can't rewire?

DANG!

Pulled Over

I'm from Lebanon. Right down the road. If you've been to the Custom Compact show at Carlisle within the last three years, I was there. Don't know if my paint is going to be good enough for a show this year though. Waiting for the spring thaw to assess the situation.

yea i just said screw it with the yellow all together, i have the outside red as brakes and the inside red is the blinker, looks good, perfectly legal
btw, most of the time you wont get ticketed for stuff liek that but that gives them a reason to pull you over and see if anythings suspicious, as a matter of fact i have only been pulled over for reasons such as lights etc...

That's Me

Guilty as charged, right down to my autocrossing mellon protector on the plenum. By the way, with all the talk on here about automatic transmission problems and rebuilds, autocrossing is a fun and thorough way to destroy your transmission! No doubt the source of my $2K rebuild that it got just a few months before that show.
The pix are pretty cool! I don't have a digital camera or a scanner, so I can't even put pictures of my car on here yet. I have some great prints of it only. Looks like you were there early when the weather was lousy.
Thanks for putting them up.

Re: DANG!

just askin but why dont you just change the signal lights to red?

Kind of off the subject but since you have a the red maxima strip on the back located between the brake lights, you could try to put bulbs in it so the red maxima symbal will light up when you brake. Ive seen it in Virginia, where i live.

You cant just change the bulb because the lense is yellow/orange.
