Stupid Police - Removing tint

so anyways, i get pulled over 3:30 in the morning for making a rolling stop, and the guy is nice enough to let me off with a warning of my tint (which is only 35% - woopty doo!), and tells me to remove it by the next business day and i wont get ticketed... So i remove it, and now im stuck with tint glue all over my windows. How the hell do you remove this crap. I've tried Goo Gone, Tar and Bug remover, i even used that stuff you guys call "elbow Grease". Nothings working, i'm about to take a razor to it, but I dont wanna scratch the windows.

Ideas? help thanks

Use a liberal amount of Goo Gone with a scrub pad. Worked like a champ for me.

Try a solution of warm water and liquid detergent. That should dissolve the adhesive from the windows. If there is still any residue, use a plastic scraper to remove what's left, since plastic won't scratch.

It'll cost you more to remove that and apply new tinting than if you had paid the ticket.

You can try Ronsonol lighter fluid (yellow and blue bottle). It turns some types of glue into mush. I don't know if it will work for the type of glue on the tint, though. I am sure the windows will be fine, but be careful around the paint.

thanks for the advice, and i'd rather just rip it off then pay the ticket cuz the max is getting sold, and the buyer can deal with the nontinted front doors

soapy warm water with a razor works well.

finish up w/ a WHITE scrubbing pad...color is important.

Damn, I think I hitted the 'new thread' button instead of reply so it went into its own thread. Anyway, you might wanna try paint thinner or acetone, both are avaliable from Home Depot or any hardware stores.

window tint glue isn't that nasty..

when I removed my old tint, I just used a razor blade. it won't scratch the glass, and the razor cleans it smoother than nasty chemicals. get everything you can off with the razor, then windex and some paper towels will get the rest off. Windex will actually remove the glue, but it just makes it gooey and nasty. razor blade will get it off, then you use the windex to clean up any tiny spots left. nice and pretty.

Isopropryl alcohol - the stuff that cleans audio casette / video heads. You can get it from Radio Shack & probably drugstores - unless you look dodgy as it's also used in making cannabis oil... Good news is it won't strip any paint. It may take a coupla trys - esp rear screen.
Had to use it when NZ govt outlawed 20-smoke tint a few years back - now THAT tint was really dark!!!. Use it on rear screen & it won't screw up demister either (I'm presuming you're allowed to tint your rear screen).

Warm water and soap, with a combination of letting it sit for a while and a plastic scraper worked for me...!
