Yesterday, I did a bad thing. I wish I could take it back. If I could I would have not done it, at least not at this point in time. I went to my local Nissan dealer to find out about the price for my door lock timer ($89 Thanks Matt93GXE for telling me how to fix it, it's done now).
At any rate, I go into the showroom and looked at the new cars. I get into an Altima. Nice, but feels like a small car. So what do I do, I ask one of the salesmen to show me the new Maxima. He quickly shows me the 2001 with the Meridian pkg. Man this fu**er has everything. Including cupholders! Even velvet padded change holders. After driving the sturdier, smoother 222hp behemoth, I wasn't impressed even as we slalomed around 25mph residential curves at 40mph+ in a $30,000 car with 50 miles on it. At the request of the salesman, I changed the trac/mode switch into "sport" mode and punched it to max out the rpm. He said he wanted me to feel how it shifted. As I'm quickly gaining on the gold colored Taurus, the rpm is now at 5000 and still climbing, snd it still hadn't shifted. I chickened out, expecting as long, or longer stopping distance than my 93GXE. He then informed me that the shift point is around 6500, which I could only confirm by the sound, cause my butt didn't feel a thing on the next run.
Like I said before, I wasn't all that impressed. Only after getting back into my car did I feel like the entire world was watching me as I left the lot. Sixty two horsepower lighter, and with a lot less refinement. Damn!!! I wanted to keep my car until 2006. It's only got 201,000 miles on it.
