I think that you need to replace the overlays and the bulbs. Im not sure, but if you do a search on the posts, you may find some GXE owners with a little more knowledge about it. I have an SE, so I cant really be sure, I do recall someone saying that there may be something in there that keeps it green, but not sure. You may be okay with just overlays and new bulbs. For bulbs, you should get Xenon 194's They will greatly improve brightness and clarity. The color will also match what you want. Good luck.

HEY!
If you have a GXE, the only way to change the green color is to get SE gauges from a pre-92 SE max. The faces in a GXE have this green background, so no matter what type of bulbs you use, you will still get a green glow. Overlays will just make the faces white during the day but at night, the numbers will be green. I just completed my installation of 89 SE gauges and xenon red and hiper white bulbs.....looks kick azz! Hope this helps.

DaBox, I will post a pic when I develop my roll (might be a while though). I bought the hiper reds from autotoys, but they rape you on shipping, like brandon90 said. I will now try to find some bulbs locally...
N34JZ, the swap is not that bad. I believe that if I can do it, then most people could. First of all, you ahve to remove the dash panel in order to get ot the cluster. DaBox has posted a write-up on this, so if you search the archives, you should be able to find it. As far as replacing the bulbs (size 194), it's just as easy as twisting and pulling. Really easy stuff. In my opinion, the hardest part was pulling out the switch connections. However, the second time I removed everything, I seemed to work with agile and nimble fingers.......hehe. If you have more questions, just ask.
