Have 93 gxe with fresh rebuilt automatic transmission. The car upshift's through 1,2 fine but hangs in 2 till about 60mph.(5,500).Now then when in 2 gear if you push in the O/D
button in it goes in to 3,and O/D fine.On the other hand if you let it down shift and then get back on it with the O/D on it will go in to a free rev. type deal.Could this be the problem we had the alternator checked cause the battery was'nt charging and at a 90 amp load test the alternator puts out like 9 volts. So would that cause the ATM,or shift selenoid to not get enough power to work right.Or could it be the ATM(transmission controller)going stupid. The car does have a system and aux. driving lights which draw hella power, also has tranny cooler.I had a friend how is ASE certified and worked at a tranny place here in town, rebuild the tranny. He said it sounds like the ATM is screwy, well have any ideas before we replace an expensive part like the ATM??????

My car was doing the same type thing, I had to have my trans. rebuilt 3 times in two months(still under warranty, so I paid nothing). They said it was some kind of resistor on the tranny that kept going out. They fixed it the first time and within 10 miles it went out again so I turned around and went back(to aamco). They replaced it again and it's been working fine since then.
