OK, I got the new transmission, clutch, and rear main seal installed in my 87 Maxima SE 5-speed and the car is almost ready to drive again. However, I need to drop the oil pan and replace the gasket because it is leaking. So far, I've removed all of the oil pan screws and the pan is loose but obviously I need to remove the exhaust pipe and crossmember to get it out. My question is, how can I properly support the engine so I can drop the crossmember and replace the oil pan gasket? I don't have a cherry picker so I was thinking of using a piece of wood under the crank pulley. The tranmission mounts should hold the other side right? If not, I guess I'll have to rent a cherry picker or something.
Please advise.
