i'm redoing my 92 gxe engine new bearings, rings etc. hate to replace the oil pump for $100+ if it doesn't need it. The oil pressure dummy light never came on before i tore it apart, can i just put in the two $6 springs that i can buy from courtesy nissan? had 160,000 miles on it before this lost compression in two cylinders and found out that the top water plug came out, allowing those two cylinders to get too hot, and welded the rings into place- thus allowing lack of compression all other cylinders were fine, i miked the crank and cams and all are well within normal specs, so i have no reason to believe oil pressure wasa ever a problem courtesy nissan has a high volume oil pump for sale as well as a racing oil pump -any reason to get one of those for this daily driver? experienced nissan mechanics opinion would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much
