I recently bought a 93' Maxima GXE with 15,000 original miles on it. I'd like to make this car last for a good while, and I've recently read a couple of posts about transmission fluid coolers helping to prolong the life of the transmission. I do a lot of city driving and a fair share of highway driving on the weekends, and was wondering if it would be a good idea to purchase one of these transmission fluid coolers for the car. It seems that a lot of the guys that mentioned this have done modifications on their Maxima's, so I was wondering if one of these coolers would be necessary/helpful for normal driving. I think it was mentioned that the cost was around $50 bucks. What do you guys think about investing in one of these??? How hard are they to install?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

15,000 miles?! are you sure they didn't roll back the odo? who the hell buys a maxima and only drives it 2000 miles per year?! well I say that.. my 90 year old great grandmother just sold her '88 buick with 7,000 miles. but she only drove it to the hair salon and back, every other week.

yeah, tranny cooler is a very good idea. they're easy to install if you know how to work on a car. cost is $35-70, depending on where and how big you go.

No......it's not a typo....15,000 original miles....found it for sale by an older gentlemen here in town. He bought it brand new and then got sick and his wife drove it on the weekends. I ran a carfax to check for odometer rollbacks and it came up fine. Plus, the paint, body, and engine were in showroom condition, so i figured the mileage was legitimate. Thanks for the tips....
