You can *make* it fit....

No it won't bolt up to your tranny either. You will need that engine, its wire harness/ECU and its tranny. Then you'll have to make custom mounts for the engine, maybe even custom drive axles. Right now assuming you got the engine/tranny/harness/ECU for $700-1000, it's going to cost around $1000-2400 labor to install everything.

I wouldn't trust an engine that's been in a wreck bad enough to part out the car. Collisions and whatnot can really mess stuff stuff up internall without you knowing it.

I got a great engine out of a wrecked car.... I'd rather get an engine from a wreck because at least I know why they are selling the engine. I suppose just make sure that the accident did not involve the engine....

Well, better than 75% of the engines on the used market have came from totalled vehicles. Any reputable salvage yard will check the block and accessories over for visible damage. Most of the damage an engine sustains in a wreck are the exhaust manifold/header(fwd) and accessories such as the alternator, power stearing pump, smog pump, ect.

If a mount or something similar is damaged or broken, generally that will make the engine unusable and the yard will break it up, rather than sell a faulty engine.

If you buy a complete engine from a salvage yard, it should have the VIN and the miles from the car that it was removed from. Also, it should have a compression test on all cylinders, wich should be provided. Most are sold as lift out units, wich means that the fuel system, ignition system, exhaust manifold, and related accessories should be included, and occasionally, the ECU and wiring harnesses are also included.

I would be more leary of purchasing an engine from a private person, unless I was removing the engine from the car myself. That way, you know the miles and condition of the car. I have seen yards try to sell VE30DE engines minus the coils, distributors, and other valuable electronic components, stay away from those yards, and find a complete engine....
