just cut your factory one down to the size you want.. i used a dremel on mine, then saned down the bumps on the side of it that holds the shift boot up.. check out the pics on my site at http://hometown.aol.com/custm42435<d...</div> </div>

Custmmax - how much did you cut your shifter down? Also, who makes your intake setup?

All you have to do is just take a hack saw and cut a piece of the shifter out. I cut mine down like 2.5 in. Then you just weld the shifter back together and your done. There is no sense in pying 100-200 dollars for such an easy mod.

shifter and intake

Ya, i just cut my shifter a little past the screw part of it, and then you dont have to use one of those insert things with after market shifters, just slide the after market shifter back on, tighten down the little screw thingie's and your done.. i had to shave the side parts off of the shifter pole so i could slide the boot far enough down and get the screw part of the shifter **** down far enough for everything.. as for the intake.. thats my $20 dollar intake! the mushroon adapter i bought from a friend for 10 dollars, and the filter was 8.50 at pep boys.. ( i think it goes to a diesel truck or something, but is closed on one end, so it works perfectly.. (sounds great also.) for 20 bucks, that beats the HEll outa paying 150 or so for a stillen!

Cutting the stock height of your shifter will not physically alter the travel length of the throws. I think only Pace setter makes a short shift kit for 3rd gen Maximas.

If they make the shifter the way they make their exhausts, I can see why people are cutting the stock shifter regaurdless...
