Possibly gettin this 3rd Gen...

Just wanted to know what you guys thought about this car...I'm currently looking for a car for a friend of mine in the $4000 price range, so I thought, what better car than a 3rd Gen? Anyway, found this one on AutoTrader:
http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...or=&cardist=19
I think he might be a little high, but other than that, what do you think? I was thinking around $3500...

Can't tell much about it, it doesn't list the miles, and the pic is blurry.

I'm a cheap ***** but I don't think it's worth over 2500 anyways.
My 92 SE with 127k is only valued at 2600

price is rip-off.

4K is too much for that car. miles low-ish or not. forget it. or haggle. it should be more like 2400 even with the recent repairs. make that vocal if you fall for the car. there is always another car. too many, really.

Or, you can be lucky like me and find a 91 Se 5spd with 138k on it for $1,300. That was such a steal. Now I gotta figure out how to make that engine run smoother and idle smoother, hopefully its just a egr/pcv or idle control valve.

you prolly right. try plugs, ground, timing as well.

i just bought, well, about 2 weeks ago, another VG maxima. too good a deal to pass up. only 1000 bucks. 180k mi. family owned orig. it is a rarer red one, SE 5spd. car is in great shape. but is practically worthless on the open market. i will use it as a guinea pig car.

I got my 92 SE 5-spd (leather, roof, 140k) for $2500 and it came with a set of studded snow tires mounted on steel wheels. I did have to put a new water pump and window regulator in it (both went out shortly after I bought it) but that still doesn't total $3000.

If you are patient and search thoroughly (newspapers, internet, autotrader, etc.) you can find good deals.

I would pass on a GXE with over 100k for $4000. Maybe if it had like 85k and looked like it was immaculately maintained, I'd bite.

I think you'd be happier with a VE, anyway.

Just my $.02
