yeah, jap cars are limited to 280 horsepower but they usually put out a bit more than that.

i haven't put my injector back in yet so if there is some sort of physical id i can still look for it.

Unfortuneately (sp?) my rebuilders have never had that injector before, So they don't know the flow rate. sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Try Rc engineering they may have the info. or send them to them and have them flow tested

that's ok. they have to use this injector on some of the us vehicles... they wouldn't be cutting costs if they didn't lol.

i may send them off to get cleaned. the little filter thingy on the injector is looking pretty dirty.

not really it may be a jap spec injector or a custom job that truly doesn't exist!
Send em out to get cleaned and flow tested.

ok, i have it all figured out now. i think the thing on the top of the injector (which i assume is connected to the pintle at the bottom) got bent and when the injector opened it got wedged in the top and stuck open. from then on every time my fuel pump was turned on it kept dumping gas until it filled every port in the intake and probably some cylinders causing the engine to hydrolock and not start. what i'll have to do is get all of the gas out and attempt to bend back that top metal piece. if that doesn't work i'll just have to buy a new injector and if that's the case i believe an injector off of an SR20DE will work perfect. i'm going to have to move my indiana trip a couple days ahead again so i can fix this thing. it should be running yet again tomorrow hopefully.

what's with all this ignition stuff lately shawn?? lol

yeah... i suppose boredom could bring stuff up like that. now that i think of it i've probably done worse when i've been bored.

is it possible to damage an engine trying to start it if its hydrolocked?

good question, guess it just depends on the ammount of force the starter can produce.

it would probably be able to because of the gearing.
if you think its a problem just remove the spark plugs and crank until stuff stops shooting out

my injector may not be bad after all... are there supposed to be two o-rings on the injector, one on the top, which you can see in the picture above, and one on the bottom?

figured it out. turned out to be that i didn't seat the injector properly. also... it appeared the lower rubber seal was missing if it was even there in the first place. i didn't want to take any chances so i pulled one of the seals out of the maxima's rail and put it in there. i had to hold the cover on top of the injector and take a hammer and lightly tap the injector into place. that worked wonders because it then held fuel pressure. what i did before was just hold the cover on and tighten down both screws to put the injector in which didn't seat it all of the way. i've never messed with taking injectors out before so it was a learning experience and now i'll know what to do next time, lol.

Glad to hear you got it figured out. Still no idea how big the injector is? I'm putting my engine in as we speak so I should have it running in the next day or two. I'll let you know how it runs on the Turbo Z ecu.

just got it running a few minutes ago. i got the part numbers but no one has them listed so we don't know what size they are. i'm stilling betting they are 259 cc like the Z's injectors.

if you are going to run the Z ecu you will need to put some resistors on the injectors. the injectors on the jdm engine are high impedence and from what the guys on Z31.com say the Z31 injectors are low impedence.

I've measured both my stock Z injectors and the jdm injectors and they are the same. I'll double check them before I start the car but I think I'll be fine.

Are you refering to flow or resistance?

Resistance...

I got the engine in and running in the Z. I'm using the jdm injectors and fpr. Once I got the injectors unstuck it idled pretty good. I'll hook up the afr gauge tomorrow and see how it runs on my turbo ecu.

Got my afr and boost gauge put in. In closed loop it seems to be bouncing around mostly in the lean/stoich area of the gauge. Once it comes out of closed loop it looks to go almost full rich. I nailed it to 10-11 psi real quick and didnt see it move much if any. I'm no pro at reading the afr gauge so if you guys have anything I should look for I'll keep an eye on it. I dont seem to have any problems. It idles pretty well. I do have some ticking around the injector/ lifter area. I sounds more like injectors clicking to me. Any idea if the injectors are that loud. I'm running at ~4psi right now to break in the clutch.

this is the one i'm thinking of upgrading to. it will bolt right in to my stock setup and the guys said it would produce up to 25 psi easily. http://www.mjmturbos.com/300zx84-89.htm
