temperature gauge troubles

anyone ever have trouble with their temp gauge? mine doesn't seem to want to work. i've tried just about everything and can't think of what it could be and having this new engine its very scary not knowing the engine temp.

things that i have checked include:

1. the two sensors on the aluminum pipe coming off of the lower intake. i've also replaced them both with some spare ones i had.
2. moved the needle to make sure it wasn't stuck.
3. checked coolant flow and its flowing just fine.
4. coolant level is good.
5. i'm pretty sure the thermostat is in good condition.

Has anyone experienced this and found it to be something other than the things listed? If not, I may just have to replace the thermostat because that would have to be the only thing left. Thanks in advance for any help.

my gauge is acting wierd as well. each time a heavy bass beat/note hits, the temp gauge will drop and return back to normal. guessing it's the wire...

does it drop if you accelerate hard? that's what happened to me first before the turbo project. if you look at the two sensors on the aluminum tube that sends coolant back to the radiator the one on the front side is the signal for the temp gauge. the male end of it might be loose. that's what was wrong with my first one.
