Got that fstb finally installed and man...car feels a lot different during a turn, etc. my question is, how hard does the bar have to "push" on the strut mounts? it's on there snug, but i can adjust it to have it push out more. thanks for any replies.

 

Congrats Fosgate. I don't know for certain if it's the "right" way, but seeing how the brace is supposed to keep the towers from bowing inwards, I fit mine very snugly. What I tell people is to adjust the length so that you almost have to push the bar towards the opposite tower to squeeze the bolt through. That way you get basically zero lash. It just seems the logical way to me and I think it's what I read at one time too...

i guess i'll just leave them simply snug. seems to be doing its job though! i can only imagine what a full setup would feel like.

no not the strut bolts. it's the adjustable thingy on the end of the aluminum bar. if i twist it, it will push out (or pull in depending on direction of turn) on the two strut mounts.

 

I have been thinking about going in that direction with my max.
was wondering:
Did it take long to install(or is it a straight bolt on-less the snugging)
Which one did u go with
Do u have any other upgrades to your suspension/steering
I am assuming you like the"difference" it produces, cause u didnt say.
Could u describe where u feel it is most noticable?

my suspension is basically stock. i feel the most difference during turns at moderate speeds. the car doesn't seem to flex/twist as much now with the FSTB on. the install took about 15 minutes. i removed those 3 nuts on each strut tower, put in the brace end-mounts, adjust brace length and installed the aluminum bar. pretty simple.

 

yep just need i think its a 14 or 16mm socket.. and must be on level ground..

yeah, it's 14 mm. those suckers are on pretty tight (least mine was) so a good length wrench would help. after u got the brace on, torque them down to 35 ft/lbs.

 

please dont over torque them, if you break the bolts your due for some expensive repair..

 

Y? they're only strut mount bolts. They come with the strut mounts easy as doing a strut.

Heck it gives you a good excuse to upgrade your struts and springs
