Power antenna question.

I am sure my car is like a lot of yours, the power antenna does not work. I have seen replacement antenna masts on EBAY. Anyone try to replace the mast only??? I can hear the power motor running, but of course the mast is stuck.

Or would I be better off replacing the entire unit?

If the motor runs then its fine. You probably just need to replace the antenna mast. How it works is there is a piece of plastic line inside with a bunch of notches on it that the motor uses to push and pull the antenna up and down. If the motor works fine, then its probably just the notches are worn down.

New mast is like $36 at the dealer. If that doesn't work, then I'd just unplug the power to the antenna motor and not have the antenna going up and down. You can crimp the joints in the antenna so you can keep it up to still maintain reception, but it's still connected to the stereo.

I had the same problem, could hear the motor running, but the mast stayed up. Got a Nissan mast for $27. from Courtesy. Works LFN.
