Need info for 94 maxima GXE

Hello All:

I have the following problems with my car and was wondering if some one can tell me how bad the problems are. The car is a 94 GXE (luxury options digital AC etc.) with 90k miles so far.

1. When I shift the gear from park to D, gear does not engage. It's as good as in neutral. I can however shift to 2 & then back to D and can drive fine.
2. With the car in idle, there's lot of gas smell (specially near the trunk area). No smell on the inside unless the doors/windows are open.
3. Car does not seem to have atleast the pickup of a 4 cylinder. If accelerated, I can hear rumbling sound coming from under carriage (as if something's loose).

Are these major problems. Appreciate any feedback.

1. Sounds like you need to replace the bushings on your tranny shifter. Cost about $5.
2. I would check for leaks or cracks in your fuel line. I haven't had the problem before, but if you do a search its been discussed alot and there should be plenty of directions on how to fix.
3. Sounds like an exhaust problem, but its hard to tell from the discription, if you are not mechanicly inclined than I would recommend taking you Max to a exhaust shop and have them inspect it. Don't get anything fixed until you post the results of the inspection. (Don't get something fixed thats not broken)

my ninety 2 has the gas smell around the trunk too, i dont think ive got any leaks but i think its my evap system. though its worse when it cold. my tranny feels as though it slips sometimes. when i stop at a stop sign i press the gas then i feel the revs rise before it goes into gear, i think ive got a problem with it shifting down from 2nd to third but anyways its all gravy
