Testing the 02 sensor

I suspect my 02 sensor is giving me problems ( see http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=262533).
Does anyone know how to test the 02 sensor on a '92 VG motor? I did the self-diagnostic check, and no codes were shown, but I'd like to check the 02 output voltage while I drive and I was wondering which wires to test, my manual is little help.
Thanks.

Replace at 50,000 kms (35,000 miles)?
I guess I thought I'd get more out of it than that.

Well it can go bad that soon. It has a lot to do with how well your engine is running. If its producing a lot of carbon, then the sensor will foul up quickly. So you can consider doing a full tune up (cap/rotor/plugs/wires). It could also be caused by a leaking fuel injector, causing a cylinder to run rich and then unburned hydrocarbons will be in the exhaust stream (then plugging the 02 sensor).

To check the o2 sensor put the ecu in diagnostic mode I and start the engine. I believe the CEL will blink each time the o2 sensor goes from rich to lean, if it doesn't toggle then its bad.

O2 sensor tool

I'm a bit confused ... - just received a bosch O2 sensor in the mail and to my big surprise 7/8" O2 sensor tool is too big. If fact bosch one is 17mm ...
The question is ... which socket do I need to unscrew a factory one?
Is it 7/8"? ... or 17mm? It would nice to know ahead - before I get under the car

Thanks!

The nissan o2 is smaller than standard o2s by a considerable margin. so I'd suggest either modifying a deep socket with a slot up the side.
or just use a wrench that fits on the new one.

I decided to settle with a 17mm crow's foot wrench
