Raped by a Accord Lx.....on a hill!
WTF. I can't believe that this happened. he has a Stick.
and he blew the doors off of my Max around 80 uphill.
then we got to a stop light and i asked him if he was sprayin' or if it was Prelude motor, but he said it was stock! i'm very dissappointed right now! It's times like this that i don't want a Max and i feel like going to the other guys Toyota, Honda, Mitsu,And Mazda.
PLease tell me i'm right about this one and he just lied to me.
92 DOHC auto 135k yes i have a VTC problem.

I'm gonna get flamed for this BUT.....auto ve's are not that fast. An auto vq is much faster. However...it seems that the 5sp ve's and 5sp vq's are equally as fast(maybe tad faster for the vq). Glen S from the 3rd gen bbs ran a 16.8 in his auto ve......pretty damn slow.
A civic ex 5sp was able to keep up my auto vg, intake/y, from 30-60, then I passed quickly when he had to shift into 3rd.....while my 2nd gear pulled nicely up to 75 or so when the race was over.
Don't underestimate honda 5sp's.

heres how I see it....
<b>from my experience</b> civics are not that quick off the line, stock for stock 5spd has never held me off from the line, and from mid range its all over, BUT mid '90ish model 5spd Acccords(non-V6) on the other hand have hung on with me through low-end and then I walk 'em a good 2 lengths. I'm not gonna get into the "times" thing, but a stock civic beating a stock VE(assuming all variables are equal, except stock HPs) is strange to me, I got no clue
a 16.8 that's scary was that stock?
i'm was afraid i couldn't beat a 16 1/4 mile.
i dunno but, he had to be lying, i mean we were going uphill
when V6 have more torque should go uphill better right?
it was a coupe so he is a little lighter than 4 door accord but man , that was not cool.
one thing i've noticed is around where i live when i get into a race and lose and then ask the person what's in it?
out of all the people i raced(that's alot)only two told the truth(motor swaps)
i mean like 2 weeks ago i got into with a 65 289 Stang on the highway and he was really tryin' i had only a bout a half car to a car on it and he like 2 or 3 chances to pass but his car just couldn't do it, i know he was mad!
so somthin' was up w/ that Accord.
i don't care if i got beat but people could at least tell the truth. 95-97 coupe Lx 2 people vs. 92 SE DOHC w/ 3 people.
on a flat i killed my friends 4 door 97 Accord auto w/ he by himself and me w/ 2 others walked him around 75-80.
my car probably needs a couple things but a Stock LX shouldn't be able to beat any VE unless........ well you know!

Re: What year accord was it???
it was a 95-97 coupe not sure exactly but i know the 97 has a slight different tail light setup.
Oh and the 289 Stang had a full car and i had my girl we were goin all the up to at least 120 and he couldn't even meet my rear bumper w/ his front.

Hmmmm.....
I didn't think the LX had Vtec, I thought only the EX had the Vtec, its a known fact that the LX's and DX's are the "econo-boxs"(aka- "you get what you pay for type models") of the set but hey maybe I'm wrong
and I've never known Vtec to do a stock Civic(other than the new Si's) any good with out VERY good mods to help out the top end push!!! I think the HOnda guy was lying, just my opinoin though!

Accords come in 2 main trims..lx and ex. It doesn't necessarly mean what motor it comes with. The lx is w/ the power door locks, etc. The ex has a sunroof and better sound system. Either car can come with a 4 or 6 cylinder. Frankly, I don't see how the 170 hp previous gen accord could even hang, but who knows.
I'll tell you guys what i know. or what i think i know.
I don't think that Accords came w/ VTEC until '98(the new body)Lx or Ex the V6 95-97 Accords should have V6 emblem on trunk lower right side under the word accord. And i don't think the V6 has a 5 speed option.
someone tell me if i'm wrong about those facts.
IMHO i think he was sprayin'

heres the deal with Accords/Civics and Vtec....
direct from C&D:
'95 Accord:
"The base DX and luxo LX don't come with anti-lock brakes as standard and are powered by a 130-hp 2.2-liter four-cylinder. The LX gets more power equipment and the EX gets all the luxury stuff plus a stronger engine, a 145-hp VTEC (variable valve timing and lift system) four-cylinder. The Accord remains basically unchanged from last year, but for 1995 it gets a long-awaited V-6. Along with the new 170-hp engine, the front sheetmetal is stretched slightly."
----><b>'95's had Vtec, too bad they are still slow as
BUTT!!!</b>
never raced a 97+ though??
------------------------------------------------------------
'95 Civic:
" Tree-huggers may like the lean-burn engine in the Civic VX which uses Honda's VTEC variable-v alve-timing system to deliver 56 mpg economy on the highway, or 92-horsepower acceleration around town. A different VTEC engine found in the Si Hatchback and EX sedan delivers 125-hp from 1.6-liters . Those on a budget can opt for a 70-hp 1.5 -liter, or i f you want to go quicker, a 102-hp 1.5-liter is available, too."
----><b>no comment.......many Civics I've raced have ALREADY proved these HP ratings to me!!!</b>
------------------------------------------------------------
I seriously doubt he was "BONE"-stock, maybe his model came packed with NOS as an option?

I raced a mid-90's 2-door Accord with VTEC and a 5-spd (meaning it's a 4-cyl). I was in my bro's 2000 Maxima SE Auto and we raced from around 60-70mph to 135-140mph. The Accord was modded but didn't know what was under the hood. It was most likely the original motor because very few people around here swap motors. Anyway, the Accord kept up with me in the 2K max. His front bumper was at my rear doors. I only started to pull ahead once we raced 120-125mph. I was quite suprised at how well his Accord kept up with a brand new 2000 Maxima. The only mods I could see were exhaust, lowered, 16" rims, blue headlights, blue foglights, blue side markers. I'm not sure if he was spraying or not but I highly doubt it. Not many people here use NOS.

I have a 1989 SE auto, W/158K...AI race everybody on the highway and certain streets...I win some and lose some, but I blew the doors off most of the hondas I've raced, now I don't know if they were modded or not, but there is no way a stock mid 90's accord or civic that can catch me. Unless maybe a Civic Si or 1998 and up V6 accords....and that my friends is why I love my max even if it is old and rusty in some areas
