Abs

Does anyone know what year Maximas came equipped with ABS? I was pretty sure my Maxima had it, thought I had read it in the manual somewhere. But after doing some hard breaking, I realized that I don't think I have them. My friend was in the car when I was doing this and he told me he didn't think I had ABS, but being so stubborn thinking I did, I argued with him and he told me they might "not be connected." Whether this is just some bull**** or if there's any sense to this I need to know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 91 GXE Automatic, all stock.

I think you realise that when you turn ignition to 'ON' you'll see the ABS lamp either lights up or doesn't. This is kinda the easiest way to determine if te ABS is present AND functioning.
Can't tell for sure but I think I remeber that ABS was optional on your year's cars.

ABS was optional, and the best way to know for sure is to open the hood.
Look for the master cylinder.
Follow the brake lines and see if they go into a part with electronic connections
I'll let you figure out the rest

Yup, if it's on the passenger side, like mine, you don't have ABS.

So what I'm looking for to be on either side is that milk jug looking thing, with the yellow cap?

Also the thing on the other side directly oposite the "milk jug with the yellow cap" that has all the break lines running into the top of it is the ABS pump. You can see it in the pics above. Mine was leaking and I had to replace it.
