ac freon recharge

ac freon recharge

Where do i get the freon conversion if any or the freon that originally went in the ac system?

Most part stores sell conversion kits by interdynamics for $30-$50 comes with fittings stickers a hose and some R134a.
and you can't buy the original (R12) unless you are licensed and want to spend approx $30 a pound for it.

30 a pound ? guess im lucky mine came stock with r134a (1993)

You're right 93 up on the max is 134
92 and down R12
I thought they switched later but oh well I guessed wong

get on ebay and do a search for 'freeze 12'. its supposedly the same thing as R12. i tried it and it worked great. not to mention its cheap and completely legal.

Even if I have a license, they won't even sell it unless I buy a compressor

who does that?
you can get R12/R12 subsitute w/o buying a new compressor..of course you'll need a license.

This was 2-3yrs ago. I went to pepboys to buy r12 and they asked for my ac license. I showed them my license and they told me In order for them to sell me the r12, I will have to buy a compressor. I told them why would I need a compressor when all I wanted was freon. for the price of a compressor, I could have use that money to change over to a r134. I went somewhere else and got I think it called freezed 12 for a lot cheaper and no license were required.
