Taking Window Tint Off Rear Window.

How would I do that once I get toward the bottom of the window?

-and-

The fogg strips got taking off with the window tint. Can I replace them in any way?

it should all peel off in 1 sheet as long as you're careful... to get the glue off i used some advice i got on teh org and used a razor and always kept it wet with windex and the straight edge will cut through it like butta as long as it's wet

Popular Mechanics, January 2004, just had an article on removing window tint, bumper stickers, and pinstripes... For window tint they said to soften the adhesive on the tint you can apply ammonia and water to the tint (stick a plastic bag to the window with the water to keep the water on the tint and from running down the window) Then after like 20 minutes you can peel it off.. they say not to scrape the back window at all because you may damage the defroster conductors.. and if adhesive is left on the window to gently rub it (with a soft cloth) off using more ammonia or something like goo gone. And if you have to rub off the stuff then rub with the conductors not against them....

so you messed up your defroster? to replace it take a brick and toss it through the window and then have the insurance kick in to replace the glass.

i assume you just pulled it off since the defrost went with it. at this point get a scraper from your local parts store. get one w/ a long handle and finish scraping it off.

haha, I hear ya.... anyways... I took out my tint nice and easy, in one big strip - just get a heat gun (or a powerful blow dryer) and then heat up a couple of cms at a time, perhaps until it bubles a bit, then grab from one corner and slowly peel off, if it the peeling doesn't go smoothly then heat up the area that is about to be peeled off. Since it's right at the bottom you might want to get a tweezer-like tool to get it started.

nothing beats ammonia and a hot sunny day.

sometimes certain things/mods should not be done in the winter.

how bad can tint be that you MUST pull it off in the mid of winter?

The tint that was on my car was madd blurry... Like I don't drive the car in the winter what so ever, because I am going to get the rust spots filled, but like if I were to be driving, theres no point for me to use my rear view mirror, because the tint made everything sooo blurry, and it was hard to see through on top of that because there were bubbles forming.

I might be driving it over to my friends house soon so he can help me fill the spot with body filler, and I'm going to need to use the rear view mirror.

heh.
