Loss power and extremely low engine temp on highways

Went to Lake Tahoe to ski the other day and the car survived the terrible weather. Two problems I've found and I don't know if they are related:

1. on highway over 50mph (when the highest gear is engaged), btw, my car
is a 93 GXE, I can not floor the gas pedal, and the engine runs slightly over
2000rpm. No matter how hard I step on the gas pedal, the car just accelerate
very slowly. But when I drive on local roads, I can accelerate the car speed
very well, and the engine rpm is well above 3000rpm sometimes. And I don't
feel the resistance that the gas pedal has on highways.

2. The engine temperature (shown in instrument cluster) is almost 0 on
highways, and it comes back to the middle right after I get off highway.

The car consumed only 7 gallon gas for the 258 mile trip, which means
it's mpg is over 40!!!

Is some cylinder not working, or it's just that the acc cable has some problem
or needs lub? Months ago when I just fixed an injector problem and put everything back, I couldn't press down the gas pedal at all. and I manually
pulled the acc cable a little bit and I can accelerate w/o problem. But these
two problems persist and I had never taken them seriously.

Any advice? Thanks a lot.

You probably need a t-stat.
and lube up the accelerator cable.
Not too mention when was the last time a tuneup was done?

Ha. I think I know what could be your problem. Your advanced timing setting was too low. That's why you're not getting enough powers. Thus, the car burns lesser gasolines.

Just go to Sears/autostore and get yourself an Advanced Timing Gun and set it back to 15 degrees.

fix the thermostat and lube that acclerator cable. If that doesn't fix it, then check for engine codes. Do a tuneup. And give us some more description of what type of reving or acclerating problems you have.
