okay. replacing my rear brakes and i can't get the brake piston to retract. is there a trick or could it be that the brake cylinder is shot and i'm gonna have to get my mechanic to do it.

twist to retract IIRC

 

Use some needle nose pliers in the grooves and twist clockwise while pushing in to retract it.

if i remember correctly, when doing the needle nose thing be careful because there is a rubber seal there that will probably rip easily if you grab it with those. its been a while since i've messed with mine so i can't remember if the seal was an issue or not. it was on my brother's 240sx.

 

or spend 5-10 and get the tool

 

TOOL. even with that it can be a be-ach if there is corrosion or whaver. Mine was real stubborn on on e side.
