A/F Gauge where and hot to hook up?!
A/F Gauge where and hot to hook up?!
Alright guys I just bought a A/f Gauge for my 92 maxima se and it says to run the signal wire to the signal wire from my o2 sensor. For some reason that doest seem to work can you tell me which wires you guys are hooking it up to? Thank you very much.

And here I was gonna run MY wire all the way out to the O2 sensor itself...
i still have to hook mine up. but don't know if its the same wire for the GXE model??? can u guys help me out on that??? i have the autometer indiglo a/f gauge btw.
thanks,

It should osillate between lean and rich at idle and when cruising. This is closed loop operation. Your watching the ECU trying to keep the engine in stoich combustion. If you have one of those silly round 10 led meters then you'll get VERY little useful info during closed loop operation.
When you mash your foot to the floor you enter open loop. This is what the meter is really designed to monitor. Hopefully it will not go red (lean) at all, but stay in the middle rising to the high middle. If it goes too rich your losing power. Too lean and BOOM!
But you can't really use these things to tune your engine. The problem is that the everyday O2 sensor isn't very accurate or fast. You really need to get a calibrated lambda O2 sensor and they are VERY pricey. But you really only need that if your looking for that every nth degree of advantage. But then youd also probably be running EGT meters too.
Overall, 10 digit Air/Fuel meters are a very imprecise view of a very imprecise measuring device. They are useful for trending analysis of your engine. If it always lights one way and then one day starts doing something different you know something is wrong. Or if it gradually starts displaying differently something is working different.
As far as my reference to 10 digit devices, I have a Halmeter which uses 30 leds and is MUCH easier to see what is going on. It wasn't much more then the 10 digit units though it is bigger.
ok but i still want to know if its the same wire for the GXE model??? cuz the schematic that was posted by MrGone is probably for an SE and i have a GXE and all i want to know if its the same wire or if its different???

if it helps any #29 is right below #39 and is white aswell
Besides I betcha you got the right wire Addae... on the VG #39 is a green/red wire that goes to the EGR Temp Probe

wiring harness side (ie. oem). Just trace the wire.
It really is easier and better to do it from inside the car though, it's protected from the elements, and since it uses small differences in voltage to get a reading, you really dont want corrosion to start forming on the wires.
