sequential shifters

anyone know how they are made? i know they don't make them for our cars but i'd be interested in attempting to make one. i checked howstuffworks.com and apparently a lot of shifters use a gated cylinder thing that resembles the ones that come in motorcycles and such. other than that the site didn't say much more. any info would be great. thanks in advance!

yeah, i'm probably dreaming about actually being able to make one but it would be pretty fun if i actually could. i wish i had my old busted tranny here. i need to look at the inside of it but i think i threw away the case a while back.

that ikeya design (in that picture) is kind of different than most that i've seen. i'm trying to find out more about because i have a few videos of its opperation yet i can't seem to figure out how they are shifting in an h pattern below it. its kind of strange.

Mike Kojima installed on in his se-R. Mucho expensive. I've seen these in Skylines also.
