ran with gtech over 300hp@8psi!

I just ran my car using my friends G-tech (We have a fellow 3rd gen on the board running 8psi /250hp wanted to run a test, those #s seemed kind of low) I set boost @8.5 psi (couldn’t get right on) plug the g-tech in jumped in and went out for a test drive. I headed to the highway, pulled over to the break down lane until I was clear of traffic. Set the G-tech @3200lbs and punched it. I had run 13.3 @109 and the g-tech displayed 314hp. Pulled over preparing to make another run and I noticed the engine was over heating, the gauge skyrocketed to H, I turned the heat on full blast, and wasn’t getting any heat! Open the hood and discovered coolant flowing out the water pump. Its –2deg outside, I have no heat but the car is overheating (go figure)
Moral of the story: a VE should put out more than 250hp @8psi and never test your car when its under 0 degs

what!?!?!? always test the VE when it is below 0* outside... always! heheheheh

it was 18* out here the day I put my freshly ported intake manifold back on, first gear had absolutely no traction at all.... sadly it wasn't so much because of the porting

man...that cold air can do cool that charged air going through your IC pretty good eh ? that could have been a factor for those numbers. i want a VE

I'd just like to say that your car rocks man.

On my friends Gtech I ran a 15.3 @ 96 or so. W00t for me.

although the HP from a GTECH isnt going to be quite as accurate im sure your easlily putting down within 25 hp of that especially since you ran a 13.3

just curouis but what is the reason that you cant make it to a dyno

and yes -2 degree + VE + 8psi = MADDDDDDDD HP

plus i bet your car wieghts more like 3300lbs with you in it especially with all that turbo crap because mine wieghs EXACTLY 3140lb and i wiegh 160lb so depending on your wieth and the extra pipeing and such your car could wiegh more like 3400lbs which is going to give you an even better HP reading on a gtech

none the less nice numbers because the gtech is very acurate in the 1/4 mile

If you underrate the numbers on the gtech it makes the gtech give you underrated numbers which is good, makes the numbers more accurate.

true the other thing is

does the gtech estimate the numbers for Wheel HP or Flywheel HP
if FHP the numbers will be in the 275 WHP range but who knows the only real way is to step onto a dyno

extreme cold + improper coolant mix = frozen radiator = exploding water pump.

doh!

pretty sure gtech goes for wheel because it is an accelerometer (spelling? lol). Plus it has no way to know the specific drivetrain losses.

That is awesome. G-Tech can be VERY accurate if it is dialed in right. If you are laying down those numbers that is great! a 13.3 is great! I really hope you are laying them down, I would like to know more about your setup, the style piping it is. Can you PM me? I sent you an email about a week ago and never heard back, heh...I guess cause the email system is down

Don- he had mandrels from JC Whitney. They cost him a bunch to ship because he was in Hawaii.
He had a chop saw on his driveway.

..

you'd have to know the freezing temp for antifreeze to figure that. Can't recall my chemistry too well, but you *might* be able to use vol. expansivity to calculate that using some other variables...i think...heck what do i know? i'm a cs major.

Well, its a guess based on the purity of your system, but its accurate with in a few degrees.

You can approximate it with the freezing point depression equation: (change in freezing temp) = Kf*m2, where Kf is the cryoscopic constant (must look it up for antifreeze), and m2 is the molality of the solution (moles of antifree / kg of water). This equation is derived from the difference in solvent activities, which always befuddled me in thermo.

I have my doubts about the the g-tech. I rather see what it can do on a dynapack it yields honest numbers compared to a dyno jet. But you are obviously running more than stock. Good job on the turbo kit

I been really busy and dont have the time to really tune the car(bring it to the dyno) I still havent had the time to even finished the exhaust(I have 3inch down pipe heading out into the pass wheel well)
