seems like a good price...have you seen any of their work though? There is no way I would paint a whole car including jams and trunk for only $400 in labor and I am an amature. I know that prices vary from state to state but $400 in labor for painting a whole car is extremely low.

PPG is the way to go. Their paint is top notch. SW paint is also good but you cant go wrong with PPG.

hey yall i didnt wanna have to show you this. but a a yr ago i crashed my moms lex pretty bad and this whole paint job was done by same guy and all body work as well. www.geocities.com/azmalu/lexforweb.JPG there is a reason me and my father will drive 30 min. each way to go tour mechanics and body shops out in phoenix and pick up the car 2 3 days later because the hispanic community is very gracious on labor prices. when first went to his shop i asked for just price on labor to fix damge minus any painting he said about 300 bucks using aftermarket bumper and just fixing dents in hood bangin out dents in fender shifting it back etc. but then i wsa dealing with insurance company and they were buggin about hte fact that i had a rental although my car was drivable so it ended up being that i could only have rental for 6 more days after estimate was written by claims agent on tuesday. the lady called found out car wasnt at shop and no parts were ordered so he got a little concerned and said to go oem parts both from salvage fender and bumper will be about 300 then i told him the price i can get the paint for he said he'll check tomorrow to see if he can get it for less so it does look like he's cuttin me a deal. we've had him to do paint work on both my parents lex and the accident repair money he got was around 6-7 grand a year ago. so i guess he's takin care of me. more than the cost of doing trunk lid have any of yall seen any other cars with it done? i have a pic of a max that i found online that has it done but looks okay because it has rear tailight mods too so i donno if i want to put all that work and money into doing that as well. www.geocities.com/azmalu/ownerstu.JPGjpg

Man thats still a smoking deal. The work that you posted looks good too.

I would stick with the black. I am not a fan of platinum at all even though I know its the "thing" right now. I just think it takes away from the whole look of the car and says "stare at my windows" instead of "stare at my car". That may sound wierd but thats my opinion. BUT its your car and if you like the platinum look then go for it. I will say that if you went with platinum that it will be fine with the dark blue but if it was a light color I would say definitely no.

Also platinum breaks up the flow of the windows. Our cars have the black molding around the windows and when you go with dark tint it blends the front and rear windows together but with platinum you have silver windows seperated by black trim.

thats my .02 worth

btw when is it going to be ready? I cant wait to see it.

Yes, I can't wait to see your car either. Sounds like it's going to be quite the good-looking Maxima.

Btw, awsm66, what do you think of ICI paint? I was talking to the body shop owner that did my quarter panel, and they said that ICI paint is up with PPG (not only because ICI now owns PPG, but their paint has usually been pretty good). What do you think?

Rule of the Maxima:
If you or your insurance company pays to get the paint fixed, you will have something bad happen in the next ~3 months.

Sucks but its true.

i hope im not hyping this too much but i think the pain job will turn out good....im paying 3 times what more for paint than the original paint job i had in mined would have cost including labor and paint..teh first car i ever saw with platinum tint was infinity qx4 when it first came out.. i had no idea why the hell the windows looked like mirrors but it looked really nice nowadays you see a lot of the lexus mercedes etc tha are sivler in color have that kind of film as opposed to black but i think blue with platinum might look good. car is ready today but shop is in phoenix only have 1 hr lunch break so wont be able to piuck it up until tuesday. by wednesday i will have pics posted.

Max R.I.P.

So sorry to hear about this man. I know how much you put into this and it's just sad. Really glad you are here to tell us about it though. Could have been worse right? Gotta be thankful for some things even at the worst of times.
I sent you an email regarding parts.

Best wishes,
Hadman
