road trip.. need advice.

for spring break (2nd week of march) i'm driving from florida all the way up to toronto and probably taking my max. i've never driven in the north in cold weather so i have a couple of questions.

-does it still snow in the great lakes area in early march?

-if theres still snow/ice what should i do about tires? i'm not really familiar with the diff between all season tires and snow tires.

-anything else i should do to the car? oil, antifreeze....

i know march is a long time away but i'm like a little kid going to disney world for the first time

thanks

hey,
you've been gone that long EH?
yes it still snows in early march...el nino didn't change things that much. as long as your tires aren't bald you won't have too much of a problem. make sure that your coolant is mixed 50/50 with water. use either 10w30 or 5w30 oil. besides that you should be just fine.
also make yourself known on www.torontomaxima.com if you want to meet some fellow canadian members while you're in town this march. besides that just drive careful on your way up man.

1. Toronto weather:
http://www.theweathernetwork.com/wea...7.htm?CAON0696

2. You'll be just fine with all season tires

3. You don't need anything to replace (oil, etc.)

Hope this helps.

Just be sure to idle your car for 5 minutes or so before you start driving in the cold weather. Let that engine oil warm up a bit.

Also, take it easy on the roads if you're driving late, like 2:00 am-8:00 am. Most highways are pretty dry from the cars driving on them all day, but I spun out twice really late night in the great lakes area of canada on brand new all seasons in my civic. The morning dew forms ice really thin invisible ice sometimes.

Wait...are you the guy with the canadian leaves on the wheels? Post that picture again, would ya?

Be sure that you sport the leaves for the entire trip, too.

If this isn't you, then nevermind.

Actually, we tried calling AAA and Alex apparently is not on the account anymore.

But AAA had to save me one day since I locked my keys in my car. That only happened once.

Yes, Durangos > *.

(especially ones with good tires)
