Motor Flush

I was wondering if anybody has used this stuff? You put it in and run the engine right before you change the oil and debris and deposits will come out when you drain the oil. Would it hurt the seals in the engine? It's basically just kerosene.

You should first install a cheap filter before doing the flush. A lot of varnish and debris can get disloged during a motor flush, most people use the old filter during the flush but then what tends to happen is after the flush, the new filter will trap the loose material since the old filter was partially plugged and most of the oil was simply bypassing it, the new filter becomes prematurely plugged.

It's definitly not just kersoene in there. Don't think of using kerosnene in your engine as a flush.

If this is the first time you plan to do a flush, and your high mileage, then reconsider doing it. The problem is a lot of material will want to come off, and may cause problems. Then again maybe not! its up to you. Some engines have a lot of baked on oil in their oil pan, the motor flush wont do a damn thing to all that crud, the pan would have to be removed and scraped clean.

My friend did an engine flush and after his car seemed to not run as smoothly.

Use the Amsoil engine flush. That Motor Flush (in the silver can)? seems pretty shady. The Amsoil stuff is pretty good, I used it on this car when I first got it and it got a lot of varnish on my camshafts off.
