Maxima bites the dust....HARD!! :(

ok...i took a road trip yetsterday up to northern Indiana (South Bend). I felt kinda iffy bout driving it all the way up there esp. since I've having this weird *** stearing problem. it was like both tie rods had a lot of play and it would turn on its own sometimes. 1 tie rod was brand new and the other about 5 months old so I know it wasn't that....btw, I live in Shelbyville Indiana (30min south of Indy) anyways, back to my story. I wake up 10pm Friday night then go to work 11-7am. I head up north right after work and make it there no problem. I was goin on like 6 hours of sleep all day. 1:30am comes around and I head on back home all tired and ****. I start falling asleep at the wheel, swearvin and **** so I say "**** it, I need to find a gas station and pull over to get my **** together" I'm driving for like 10 miles and didn't see any gas station, maybe I just missed them while I fell asleep for seconds at a time. You can only get lucky so many times...I close my eyes for a few seconds, open 'em and look back up...I'm heading straight for the center median (grass between) or whatever its called...by the time I realize I had both DS tires off in the snow/salt/sand/and whatnot so I try to get it back on the road but the tires won't grip to put me back on...well of course, finally they do and of course the *** end slides around the front and I'm spinning in the middle of the ****ing interstate no knowing where I"m gonna end up...so i'm sliding backwards thinking i'm actually gonna make it, but at that time I slam into a ditch w/ like a 4ft decline and 15ft incline...I hit the ditch at around 65-70mph and slide down it for close to 150ft. Thank god my car didn't flip (I honestly dont see how it didn't) or I would have been injured pretty badly. The ending result....broken control arm, smashed in the whole a$$ end and DS 1/4 panel and rear DS door smashed in at the bottom, and now my DS rear wheel is sitting close to where the DS rear passenger would be. Had to wait 3 hours at a truck stop for my ride to come get me and just got home at 8am. One hell of a night for me. I would have rather stayed home. I got pics of the havoc and will try to post them sometime.
Thx for reading the whole thing

Oh and btw...look for a 89 SE to be listed in the FS forums about parting out...

I'll tell you something your brother was probably there helping you stay alive in that car during all that.! You never know. Be careful in the future.

I'm glad your OK. Sorry bout the car... and they say women have an intuition, next time go with your gut. Although not as severe I've been having a bad feeling about those light-up washer nozzles and sure enough I got pulled over recently and was ticketed. $75 friggen dolla.

They got me for the 194 bulb in the corner marker being that it was xenon and they said the hint of blue made it unauthorized because I can't use a color a law enforcement official uses!! Normally they give a ticket for both but he gave me a ticket for the left and a ticket for the right. 95 dollars !! Now I have a court date next week to try and beat it....I got a bad feeling about this one

Was there no emergency lane on this interstate? You should've pulled over right away man if you were starting to fall asleep.

Hindsight is 20/20. Could have. Should have. Would have.

At least you are not hurt. It's too bad about your Max, but I suggest you take something from it and keep it with you, since the car was special to you. I have had the same license plate frame on every car I've ever owned. It looks like ****, but I don't care, it's special to me. I also have some emblems from my very first car and I will never get rid of those. Good luck with your 240, just try not to doze off.

Sry to tie up this thread... I think it'll be dismissed cause the two tickets will just reinforce that the cop was being a b@llbuster instead of an enforcer. PM me and let me know the outcome.

Wow man, I am glad to read that you are ok. I'd still see a doctor though, just in case you may have hurt yourself but can't feel it quite yet.

Man, I can't imagine what I'd do if my car gets wrecked (although its almost on the way, few more dents to go, lol). I guess it's time for a VE 5spd (that is if you are staying with 190hp v6 FWD cars).

Yeah well I was looking for a gas station to pull over at and get me something to drink and walk around for a lil bit to wake me up.....I couldn't find any on the interstate...prolly b/c I kept falling in and out of sleep I know, it was dumb of me to keep on driving but nothing i can do about that now, just to learn from my mistake.. if my damn work wouldn't have called me in on my day off I would have gotten some sleep that night....FOCKERS!!!!

Thanks for the concern Well my neck is killing me (just the muscles tho) my shoulder feels like its dislocated or something...knees hurts at times but other than that I feel alright. except of course for my ego Well I have a 94 SE auto right now that needs the tranny rebuilt so I'm gonna get that goin then sell it to get a 91-93 240sx. I'll be looking for a maxima identical to my other one though later (white, blue leather, 5-speed)

Man, crashing cars f*cking sucks. Good luck with the 240. That's the route I'd go if I could find one I could afford.
