Does anyone know of a way to verify if your car in fact has the original engine? I have the engine ID and contacted Nissan North America, but they claimed to not have that information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

when people talk about matching #'s (i.e. classics, old muscle cars, etc..) most just mean that the #'s for the motor match what should be in the car.. not much of a way to really verify if its the original motor in those cases.. unless you got really picky and started checking block/head casting #'s against manuf. dates and all... which would be kinda hard to find for a old maxima.... now some newer cars actually have portions of the VIN stamped into bits and pieces under the hood.. but usually not on the block or anything... I know alot of toyota stuff has the VIN etched all over it (door glass, doors, other glass, even some under hood stuff)... But thats mainly to help track stolen cars.... not for verifying original motor/vs. new motor... what makes you concerned?? How many miles on your ride?? I'm curious as to why you even care?... Ignorance is often bliss ya know .. I mean if you aren't haveing any problems or anything... now if you bought the car and the owner said.. oh its got 40K miles on it.. and you start digging into it and stuff looks "older" than 40K or whatever.. then you might want to be concerned...
