Vaccume hose question
Vaccume hose question
The other day I was changing all my vac hoses which were old, hard like plastic and some cracked (recommended if you haven't done so yet). Everything went fine exept there is a thin one going below and in front of the battery into a cylinder/tube. I accidently broke the upper thin tube which the vaccume hose goes into it. I left it like that for now until I figure out what the heck I'm gonna do. Car ran fine, just like before but lately I've notice a little hesitation. Though I'm not sure if its because of this or not.
What is that black cylinder thing called?
Is it expensive to replace?
What is it's function?
Is this effecting the performance?

DOH!
don't remember how much the charcoal canister is, but you need to find a way to reattach that hose to the one you've got, or replace the whole canister.
try some of the guys that are parting out their cars in the for sale forum. not too many people need that canister, so it should be pretty easy to find.

you know what. i just changed an injector on my vg. i broke a small little hose right above that accordian style tube that connects the plastic tube from the intake and the metal piece under the throttle body. i also lost a vacuum hose(i dont how i lost it) that goes to a piece on the back part of the upper manifold that is right next to the #5 injector. i dont konw wehre it connects to but i think it goes to another hose that goes down into this container that resemsbles and oil pan under the airbox. is this holding the fumes from the fuel? even though my car is not misfiring anymore, it still smells like gas a little inside the car. any input? thanks for bringing this up maxdude, i almost forgot to post this until i saw your thread
