we shall see. the acura looks like an older model, I'll find out tomarrow. it's a sophomore who just got his license, and his dad bought him his car. we're going to take it to the local track and bust it out on the quarter mile

maybe it's time for that NOS kit & ECU

if its the first gen legend of acura, then you guys might be at dead heat. all first gen acura legends (ethier coupe or seden) come wih 160 hp standard. My advise is to peel out, it helps sometimes when i do it.

I happen to own both an '88 Legend (stock 5sp/4door) and a '90 SE. Having both cars here's my input...

- The Legend has poor low end gear ratio, BUT once he hits high 2nd-into-3rd, WATCH OUT !!! The additional weigh plus momentum will become his advantage.

- The Maxima has great low end gear ratio, so take advantage and max out the revs in each gear and don't look back. I don't recommend "peeling out", because instead of moving forward, you'll be in one spot, but do warm up your tires before your run.

- The Legend's a bit heavier car which gives your Maxima an edge PLUS... your add-ons will be much better than the Legend's stock exhaust system.

- Lastly, not knowing your driving skills the other guy being a new driver will probably mis-shift or not get the revs up for maximum shift point.

My guess is it'll be close, but you should beat the Legend. As for the Honda...no contest. Looking forward to you posting the results. Good Luck and Safe Racing.

You should beat both of them, if the Legend is 5-spd you may have some problems if you don't take off good. The accord will be no problem what so ever.

Haha, it's times like these I wish I had a 5 speed SE. Every mod I add only lets me "catch" up to the STOCK HP of an SE . Now if I had the SE, I'd be racking up that HP

At the track, should I torque brake to...2,500 RPMs? and when the green shows, release the brake and floor it? remember, I have an auto

HAHA....you torque brake at 2500 and bye, bye tranny!!
stock stall speed is only 1800 if you out it at 2500 your doing a whole lotta damage and than BOOOOM!!! do it this way torque brake to 1300-1500 and launch......its not that healthy for the tranny still so don't do it too many times!! or you can hold the brake with your left foot and just floor it with the right while simultaneously removing left foot from brake, a lot safer for the tranny, but I doubt you need it against either cars unless the Legend is a later model!

You can't torque brake to 2500 rpms. I think the most it'll let you get to is like 2200 then it just won't rev any higher. And it's not terribly bad on the tranny, just don't do it over and over a thousand times a day. What DA-MAX said about hold the break with your left foot and push in the gas while letting out, if you do that right you'll launch like a raped ape.

A "raped ape"......ummmmm???
how exactly does that....occur.....

youo've got a point though, I guess the secret to not destroying the tranny is not holding the torque brake for too long so less heat is created!? I still think over 2000 is a little high, but I'm just VERY cautoius with my launches after 3 rebuilds!!

hmm...
well, i walked a 95 acura legend, and they have an inline 5 (not inline 6, but 5). and as for the honda, i raced a 2000 model accord the other night.. by the time i hit 137 and could see his headlights glimmering in the distance behind me, i knew all was well... but, then again i have an Se.. the acura will be harder than the accord. has a lot of torque on that inline 5, and did ya'll know that it is mounted like a Rear wheel drive(engine) yet is still a front wheel drive? wierd.. well.. good luck and let us all know how you do..

it all depends on the car but i've got mine up to 2200 before it cut out, i wanted to see if i could get it to 2700 to break the tires loose. I did it about 4 times in a row and never got it. hehehe.
