Cruise Control not working

I have a 1994 SE with 163,000 miles. The cruise control is not working. The curise control does not engage when I push the SET button on the steering wheel.

This is what happens:
1. I push the ON button on the dashboard
2. I then push the set button on the steering wheel
Result, curise control does not engage.

Another interesting thing occurs:
I first push the SET button on the steering wheel and while the SET button is pushed in, I (second) push the ON button on the dashboard. The green cruise control light on the dashboard begins to blink on and off.

Any indication what this could be and how to fix it?

Try taking the part of the dash off and pushing the plug and connector in all of the way? Another problem is you could have a short in your wiring. Also, check for any exposed wire w/ cuts in it or grounding onto anything.

I'm not sure, but is there a minimum speed you have to be going before it will engage. I tried to turn mine on the other day at like 25-30 mph just to see if it worked cause I never use it and it wouldn't work.

I have the same exact problem, and I have tried to hold the button on the steering wheel too and mine will start blinking once I push the button on the dash. I checked some of the wiring but no luck finding anything wrong. I'll look some more tonight, only a matter of time I guess...

Mine wouldn't work and my brother got the entire vacuum assembly from a junkyard for $20 and voila! Cruise works. I think it just had a vacuum problem, but I never really checked it out. I still have the original one in my garage somewhere.

Oh, at first that didn't work, so I removed the battery cable overnight and when I put it back on in the morning, the cruise worked. That was almost a year ago. Still works.

The minimum speed that I can set mine on is like 29 mph. So, I'm guessing the theoretical speed is 30.

Does your odometer work? I had this cruise control problem b4 and also the odometer wasn't working. It turned out that my speed sensor was bad, once I changed that everything was good, odometer and cruise control..........

I actually posted this a few weeks back, but I had this same problem - EXACTLY how you described. I changed my ASCD servo and now my cruise works perfectly.

In case you're wondering, the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) servo sits on the same bracket (or more specific, right beneath) as the cruise control actuator. If you've got an SE, it'll be on the passenger side of the engine bay, bolted just forward of the wheel well 'hump'. It should have a small vacuum line and a wiring harness attached to it.

Just trying to

hey, that whole assembly is what I replaced, so that was probably what was wrong on mine, too.
