Car turns off when started unless gas pedal is pressed??

HI,

It's been two days now that when I start my car it turns right on but unless my foot is on the gas pedal, it turns right off. I start it again and starts right away but goes off again.
Then when it warms up and I have the head lights on, the power tends to decrease and when I rev it, the lights become brighter again.

Performance: No difference, runs good.

Battery is less than one year old, installed new NGK V power plugs less than a week ago. Changed cap and rotor.

My thoughts: Bad: MAF, Alternator, fuel pump????

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can't. Unless you have access to a flow tester.

sounds like an idle problem. Especially if it is running smooth otherwise and has good power. When you rev to higher rpm the alternator can kick out more power and lights will be brighter. I'd run some fuel injector cleaner through it, as I think you need a good spray pattern for a good idle. Make sure spark plugs, wires, distributor are ok. Consider checking Idle air control. Lastly consider TPS.

That would be my guess, check your IAC valve.

Or TPS. But check the idle air control first

you dont need to replace it. first take it off the car and take it apart and clean it, somtimes they get all gumed up in there and dont flow well.

the other thing is you can check your MAF by unplugging it and starting your car but if oyur car starts it wont rev above 2500rpms
