Today I'm going to order the parts for this project. I know that the 300zx studs can be used. Does anyone here know which 300zx studs are interchangeable? also,
Are they actually any better than the Maxima studs?

84-89 300ZX Turbo studs should be the ones you want. they are a crap load stronger. i know first hand since they came on my turbo engine.

I remember a post stating that Nissan has replaced the Max stud part number with the 300zx stud part number. So when you order the Max stud they will already be the 300zx stud.

-Oh yeah let us know how much u spent on all the studs and gaskets and tools, and if u had to get the mainifold trued cuz it warped and how much that was

Dude i thought i was the only person with this problem.

I have a hell of a problem with the studs
and a locol shop wanted to charge me 1100 dollars.

but i was like hell nah

si i had to take off the head just to get to the rear studs. i had to drill out 4 broken studs
what a MISSION..
ill keep u guys updated about it when i finish it.

 

I've ordered the studs for 2.50 each (buying 12)
My mechanic is charging $350.00 cash to replace all twelve and he's supplying the gaskets. It's too good of a deal for me to go through the trouble of drilling out the old busted studs and re-tapping the threads. Plus it's way to snowy and coold for me to be outside on my back doing this particular job.
I'm really hoping that i don't need to get the manifold machined or have cracked headers. Luckily I have a spare set of shorty headers on my parts car (don't know if they're cracked either though )

If your not putting the pacesetter headers on you should consider it, have them on mine and i could tell a big diffrence. Also when i broke like 3 of my studs, i just took a MIG and built the weld up inside the hole then welded a nut to the end and it pulled the broken ones out, no warpage or anything, it's real time consuming though.
