timing belt

Here's how it went, I change my timing belt and water pump , thermostat about 8 months ago and yesterday my TENSIONOR broke, (GUESS I SHOULD HAVE CHANGED IT HUM) Well I was driving about 35 and the car stated to hesistate and I pulled over and that was it, call the tow truck.Well I broke my engine down and when I got down to the crank all the tensioner ball bearing fell out one by one> Then I started to run into a little trouble, I set my crank to #1 TDC and I turned the right cam and it popped to the timing mark but the left cam , I could turn to a point and no further. Took the spark plugs out and still could move the cam no further than a 1/4 turn . I figured the valve were smashed> Called this guy at a Nissan dealer and he said put a breaker bar on it and turn. Got both of them set but the car run like shut, turned the being playing with the distributor but still running rael bad, ANY SUGGESTIONS>

Do a compression check AND a leak down check, there's a reasonable chance that you bent a valve.
No guarantee's though
