Bad Odometer

Hey guys,

Quick question for you... the odometer/trip-odometer in my wife's '94 works intermittently (once you stop, you have to "tap" the trip button to get them moving again). The dealer told me the odometer head was bad and was going to charge me in the neighborhood of $400-$500 to fix it. Is it really that hard to change out? Would it be worth my time to try it myself (and probably spend the better part of a Saturday doing it) or should I let the dealer do it?

Mark

If you're mechanically inclined then try it yourself

Just live with it. It's ultra common problem on the maxima. The car is 10 yrs old-a functioning odometer has less impact on a car's value. Save the money for a major repair. I guess you could fix it yourself, if it's cheap and easy. Otherwise, just keep it as is.
