Carpet Question

Hello i need to replace the carpet in my car. I know it is best to get the premolded stuff but that is just expensive for a 8x5 peice of carpet. I was wondering if you bought carpet and put it in if it was possible to take the form of the floor or would it just look to messed up? Has anyone done this or tried this approch with great results?

If you try to take a flat piece of carpet and try to make it fit nice on all the contours, it will look like crap. Also the carpet is NOT just carpet. It has a layer of padding and a thick layer of some heavy alien foam stuff for I assume sound deading/cushioning.

Also good luck taking/replacing even the stock carpet. You have to either slit some of it or take out the center console and brackets to get it out. If you have airbags and abs, it's even more fun

It'll look like crap. Pay for the molded carpet or don't bother wasting your time, which I assume is of some value to you.

No. I think it will look perfect and be exactly like the oem stuff. In fact, it will look even better the oem.

Also it's very very easy to take out the carpet too.

Look deep within yourself and ask yourself this. Do you want to hear the truth or just what you "want" to hear? The answer lies within'.
