Just look at how much wider the heads are on the VG30DET. No way it would fit, well not without alot of massaging. And there's already enough weight up front.

in person the vg30det doesn't look much wider than the vg30et. now that i think of it someone on here did say that it barely fit, but it would fit in there. i think it was nismo87se or something similar to that name.

The VG30DE/DET from the 300ZX had two completely separate and cross flowing intake systems. It's an extremely wide engine and would only fit longitudinally in the Z. It would never fit under the hood of a Maxima. The transverse VG and VE have much more compact intake systems and intake manifolds and fit way easier under the hood for these types of cars.
