do you have Bose in your car? I would just keep the amp. There are some write ups about fixing them, although I highly recommend just taking out everything and starting new. The Bose system in the Maxima is decent for a stock system, but it has shown time and again that it has flaws. You can do much better in the aftermarket.

You can use the 4th gen bose amps in order to replace your 3rd gen bose amp... you just have to get the whole speaker unt (from the 4th gen) and then open it up. It might save you some time, that's all.

just get good speakers and splice the wiring into the bose harness. leave the amp there since i think its connected to the mount bracket( i think, but either way it doesnt justify the time to get them out, theyre not in the way)

yeah In my car I just cut the two wires that gave power to the amp and only used the two for sound, then I bolted my 6x9's right up to the bracket.

I did the same thing. They already have the right brackets for 6x9s. Before, I meant, don't take them out, since you can bypass the amp and use the brackets. If you take it out, then you have to make another bracket for it.

I don't have bose and when I did the installion. I only removed the amp because it annoyed me to have that back there. It looks pretty clean since I removed the wires and everything that I didn't need. Thanks for all of your replies
