Fixing up 91 SE (struts F/R and Bose problem)

My '91 SE is my daily commuting car with 150,000 miles and still runs strong. Need to replace the stock struts (suggestion???) and maybe the springs without really lowering the car. Just want to get the ride smooth again.

Problem 2: The BOSE stereo is buzzing (probably the amps everyone seems to be talking about). Can I replace just the speakers with non-BOSE or do I need to change the whole setup including the deck if I go with non-BOSE. Do I need to rewire or can I use the existing wiring?

Don't want to put too much $$$ into this as its only my commuting car (have another ride that gets all the good mods/pampering).

Eibachs have the least amount of lowering.
Tokicos supposedly have the best ride.
I don't know because I haven't replaced mine yet.

You can reuse the existing wiring, but you will sacrifice sound quality by doing so.
With bose it's all or nothing.

You're supposed to replace everything in bose, but can manage with a 1/2 assed job. Easiest is to buy one central amp (probably with multiple channels), and run your wire from HU to amp, to speakers. The problem with the bose are the amps capaciters start drying out, so cheapest thing would be to open every amp, and just replace all(theres a link somewhere that'll cut the amount down) of the capaciters. Mainly you can check which one has a stain underneath it, replace it, and see if it works. But after 4 amps, multiple times, it might be better to get one amp for all of them.

KYB's or Eibach's are the way to go for the shocks. BOSE systems will force you to replace the whole thing if you want decent sound quality. But like Doomtoo said, if it's just your commuter, you can get around with a 1/2 assed job
What's your pampered car by the way?

there could be a power wire thats close or crossing over your bose wires and that would send a humming through the speakers

if you get time, try looking behind the HU and see whats crossing over, theres also the possibility of a static charge through the lines which you can discharge by touching them, but you would get a lil shock, nothing deadly

takke the Hu out and unhook the 2 adapters, oh and un hook the black antenna one too and do the same to it also, (whatever you wanna call them) and kinda run your hand alon the adapters to try to discharge the static. That the only way i can think of dischargin the static, you or someone else might have a better idea.

Thanks for all the replies... talked to a a guy who works on Maximas (Nothern NJ) and he recommended a set of Tokico. Orderd them yesterday along with a strut brace. For the radio, going with non-Bose unit and speakers.

Now for the mystery ride...2001 Audi TT Coupe (woulds have posted a picture, but didn't know how).

You own a TT and are tight??? Just stop being so cheap. This car has given you 150,000 loving miles and this is how you show it how much you love it!! Show a little love man. Your car will be filing for devorce soon if you don't give alittle.

I would have been jelous if he had a Skyline. The only one of those I can afford is on GT3.
