Leaky roof...

I was washing my car today... the first nice day of winter... and when I finished drying it all off, I took a look inside, and noticed there was brown stuff all over my back seat. I dried it all up from the seat and seatbelt, and looked up at the roof of the car, and saw that the cushion up there was all wet too. Well from outside of the car, there are no rust stops on the roof, and when I drive it in the rain, no rain drips in. What could be the problem?, how can I fix this?

Thanks for reading.

its probably the weather stripping gone bad, i have the same problem, not as bad though. I just have water stains in the front driverside corner and back passanger side, where are yours at or is it the whole thing. Im thinking maybe some new stripping, if you can replace it or not im not sure of

its the rubber that goes around the glass of the sunroof, you can call it what you want, and on this there is rubber that comes down, hard to describe, its almost like a mini squegee which goes around to help keep the water out. if you pop up your sunroof and look, its hard to find a good angle to look at it, maybe try feeling with your hands and you should feel it.

also there are drains around the sunroof. if you put the sun roof back so it goes into the car, yu wiill see them, one is on the passangers side in the front corner, check to see it that possibly cloged and there is no where for the water to run. I am assuming that there is another one on the drivers side front corner also.

This rubber is not replacable. The only way you can get it is with a new glass. The rubber squegee is not to keep water out. It is a diverter for the water. This is a gutter more than a seal.

There are 4 drains in the Roof Cartridge. One in each corner. The rear are only accessable by the interior trim. You can try blowing them out with compressed air.

If the rubber is ripped in the front corner,it will still leak. This is caused by the front deflector dragging. The drips will fall to the inside of the drain channels.

Mor than likely the drains are plugged. Trust me on this. This is what I specialize in.

alright i was thinkin last night, i belive that bansheenomore said something about piping or hoses that go from the sunroof drains to drain it,"There are 4 drains in the Roof Cartridge. One in each corner. The rear are only accessable by the interior trim. You can try blowing them out with compressed air. " so i was thinking, if they were like rubber hoses in there, then maybe the hose has came loose and now it is drainging into you car instead of through the hose. bansheenomore can probably tell you wheter this is possible or not though

The hoses are made of a rubber. They can come off, but this is not very comon. The hoses slide over some ridges that are supposed to keep them in place. Usually you have to do something to make them come loose. That is one reason for asking if the car was wrecked. Some Body shops have been known to pull the hose out or even melt them working on the qtr panel.

Take off the rear interior corner then pull down the headliner. This will give you a little look at hoses. It is far more common for the hoses to be plugged. Usually the front plug up first. Then the rear get overwhelmed and then plug.
