Ball Joints...
Ball Joints...
my car's (93 gxe) in the shop right now cause it needs new ball joints. the guy there called up and said they have tried 9 different kinds so far, and nothing fit. they tried the right ones first obviously, but then they tried 95 and some other ones. they were on the phone with the nissan dealership the last time i talked to them, and they're trying to figure it out, but do any of you know if there's a reason the joints the dealer gave them wouldn't work? any experience with this? btw, the shop is very good, and we take all our cars there for everything. any help would be appreciated. thank.

I've replaced about half a dozen and I have never had a problem with one not fitting.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Make sure they know exactly what kind of car it is
What part #s have they tried?
95 uses a snapting retained ball joint vs the 89-94s 3 bolt setup.
Are you the original owner of the car?
Someone may have swapped in a totally wrong control arm when the car was in a previous accident.
But that is highly unlikely.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think it made any sense. The car was originally my grandmother's for a few years, and i've had it since, never had anything done to the suspension/ball joints/cv axles or anything, and everything that has been done was either by nissan when she owned it, or the shop it's at now. Thanks for the info on the 95s. I don't know the part # they tried, but the one for our car is L2020-31617 correct? Again, thanks for all the help guys...if they can't figure it out, i'm gonna go to the auto store, get the parts myself, and do it over spring break, and save $$.
