Funny Noises from the engine.

So I was driving around doing some errands today, and my mom pointed out that my car was making this funny sound. I don't know what it is, but I started to notice that it would be more often. It is comming from the engine bay, and it has only happened when I come from a complete stop, and between releasing the brake, and pushing the gas, the noice would come. It's like the engine is reving, but at the same time, I haven't put my foot on the gas. The noise is not my brake pads, and its a louder sound deeper than when the engine is being reved. Could it be my transmission going bad?... Also, what I have noticed, is that when I come from a complete stop, and my car is about to switch from 1st to 2nd, my wheels will chirp. Kinda like a stick shift would do, but I have an automatic... hmmm... thats why I think it might be the transmission. I will post more when I find out more.

Thanks for reading.

my 89 auto did that when the torque converter was goin out could also be cv axles that make it chirp between gears if they are bad but that noise makes me think it is a tranny problem torque converters arent to expensive and arent to major to have done (at leastit wasnt for me) but i could be wrong it could be internal but thats what mine was. its worth a shot of lookin into. good luck

Is it more of an electrical "whine"? If so, then you have a loose ground somewhere. Most likely it's a ground for some part of your stereo, as I have seen that a lot in friend's cars.

Would that happen even when my headunit isn't on? I've been told that it could be the water pump but I'm not sure...

Good thing I came upon this, if this is the whine that I here when I accelerate than I won't need a new alternator.

Hope this is the case

Yeah my car makes same noise perhaps it is the water pump cause mine now has a slow leak so I'm gonna need to replace it soon I'll let you know when after I do if the noise goes away.

I did a tranny diagnostic on my car today... i just dont understand the codes. I got:

1st flicker is longer than others: revolution sensor circuit.

10th flicker is longer than others: line pressure solenoid valve circuit.

Now, my question to you is... what exactly does that mean?

Take it back... Its only the 1st one that blinks... the 10th one was actually the 11th that divided it for the next sync. of blinks...
