92 Max Downshift Problem

I have a 1992 Maxima that will not downshift, especially when approching a hill, when the overdrive button is turned on (overdrive mode). Any ideas???

might be a bad switch connection, or connection to the tranny, take it to a shop and have them check it out. it might cost some money, but theyre my best ideas
