Air Intake

Ok I want to put a cone intake on my 91 SE. I know I need to include the maf still. And I know I need some sort of adapter to get the cone filter to fit onto the maf. My question is where can I get one of these such adapters? Or can I make one from something in the air system already?

Also do our cars have resonators for the stock air intake system? (I haven't gotten around to looking and its REALLY cold outside)

Ebay have them and the filters, as for the resonator, Im not sure either. PA is pretty cold out these days. I can't wait for spring and the real toys can be put on my car

you can take the brass ring that is on the stock tubing (it was bolted up to the MAF sensor) and modify it to work. This is what I used until I recently got my CAI.

just past the MAF sensor is a resonator that runs down into the engine bay. I took mine off when I had my home made pop charger and plugged the hole with something I found around the house.

but the one I have is so shiny, except for that ring that shows how big the adapter SHOULD be.

Are either of these right? If not does anyone know the pattern that the holes need to be in? I just want to know for reference, b/c I'm going to modify the brass ring that awsm66 reffered to.

you don't need to modify that brass ring (that much). the holes will line up. you just gotta bend the horn looking part straight so you can fit the cone filter onto it.

I don't have a cone intake system yet i have a k&n tray intake, so i wouldn't know whether to trust the ebay ones or not, buti would be confused as to why they would advertise it if didn't work

it works, just that it won't fit our MAF. when i got mine, the holes did not line up at all, and there wasn't enough metal for me to redrill holes.

I bought one just like both of those and it won't fit.

I think they are for a Sentra or Altima -- definitely smaller.

I got mine from Piggie, but I don't know if he's going to be able to get you one for a while. He is backed up pretty bad.

I knew what you meant but the site doesn't say. How can you go about using the stock adapter on an after market intake cone?

I'll have to stop by AZ and see if they have the adapters...
Though I did talk to a company earlier today that is willing to make ANY MAF adapter I want, just has to be in quantity, also Cam gears and just about anything else that can be CNC'd

Thanks man. Ill have to check that out. I opened up my stock filter box and saw the brass ring in there, but I'm not too sure of myself straightening out the curve in it. So Ill try AZ first and if I don't find one there, Ill be trying the brass ring.

I'd be down too, just let us know the price. I much rather spend a bit more on a MAF adapter that I know will fit vs something that I might need to drill out, but can't due to no space.

Not only that, but then I could finally buy a few more items off you, like them window regulators

I was thinking plastic because:
a. more of an OE look
b. Lighter?

whichever is cheaper, without lacking quality of course. Do you have a price range guesstimation?

I'll see how my MAF adapter from John goes. If that falls, I'll get one from you.

I'm assuming the $10-$15 shipped would be for just the bracket, not the filter included, correct? Just wanna double check...
