what iam try to saying is when the weather is cold and dark the car run fine and when the weather is warm the car thump and the idle drops a little below 1,000 rpm and goes back up and does this for a while,

could the thump mean the car is hiccuping?

Hi,

when i get out of my class i go to my car and get the car started and let it warm up, then what for a while, the window on the back is all covered up with fog so i have to clear the back and the air out of the back smell very strong but it is old so it is fine, then start to drive the car the car seems fine,

my max doesn't have the check engine light but has the emission light,
i have to put 20 to the gallon in order to last through the week before i have to refuel the tank, iam not sure if it is running rich, iam not sure if it smell like gas,

the thump happen when iam in still and in drive,

u can see if it throws codes, bad injectors can cause that weird idling, and a clunking.

if u just bought the car, id recommend replacing the o2 sensor unless you know its just been done.

I don't mean to be rude, but are from another country, not sure if its just your typing or if you are not 100% on our language yet. I wish I could help ya, but I realy dont understand what you are typeing at all.

id say do it anyway, you can pick up an o2 from internetautomar, he has ngk's for like 55 bux.

you can take your car to a shop or somewhere like that, i herd someone say autozone can do it.

also your maf may be bad. if temp is affecting it, the amount of air its gettin may be a problem, also temp wise, when was the last coolant flush.

these are just a few things can cause this

Ok dude, to solve ur problem ur going to have to find out some things....
1- is that smell Rich fuel.. (Is the exaust really black?.. because the exuast is not suppose to be notice able.
2- pull ur plugs!- spark plugs can tell u alot of things..
3- buy a service manual..

try letting ur car fully warm -up (5-8 min.) before driving.. and see how it feels

The o2 doesn't throw a code most of the time anyways.
But if you have over 60k on the o2 replace it.
It is a maintenance item just like an airfilter or sparkplugs.
I sell all the tune up parts BTW

You need a new solar sensor. It's a common problem on 3rd gens right up there with window regulators.

I'm sorry, I had to

It seems that your car does not get enough air when it is hot or
that its getting to much fuel ,check the airfilter or the injectors

hey man I was just messin with ya and yes I have problems of my own if u wanna know but mine arent as serious as they were when I got my car. They were horrible the woman that had the car before me drove the car to the left front control almost fall off. I found that out after the second week I had it. It fell off with the tire when I was goin 80 down the highway. I should of known when I heard a noise and I should of pulled over. For that incident I had to pay 1300 for a new disc brake, tire, rim, control arm, strut, and brake line. So at least ur problem ain't that bad.

1)Do you have the Heater on while warming up the car? Usually when you smell gas only at warm-up it means the fuel lines near the injectors are cracked. When cold, these cracks expand and cause the gas to leak. When it's warmed up the cracks contract stopping the leak.
2)When it thumps while you shift it, you either have a problem with the tranny or the mounts. I had the same problem with my gxe but the tech who rebuilt my tranny claimed it was the mounts. I don't know.

Hi jim90gxe,

Normally i don't have the heater on while warming up the car until i clear the back windows next i get in and close my door then i turn on the heater but i wait for a while then start to go home,

like yesterday when i started the car i went to smell the pipe i smell gas from it,

somebody here told me it is the motor mounts that is causing the thump,

but not sure if it is,

Sounds like what my car was doin when I had 2 bad fuel injectors, at night when the temps were cool it would have alot more power then during the day when the outside temp got above 80F or so. It would always run rough either way. Since you dont seem to knwo that much about cars I reccomend atleast taking it to a shop and have them check it out. A few places aroud my area will do a few basic checks for little to no charge and give an estimate on repairs, although most will charge you if they run computer diagnostics.. BTW my ECU didnt throw any codes when the injectors went. Hope this helps!
