Tranny Question?

i have a 5-speed manual and i am pretty sure I need to change out the tranny fluid. My question is what kind of synthetic do you reccomend for this tranny. And about how many quarts do i need. I just am having some problems getting in gear sometime, i think first gear synchro might be tryin to go. And i have a leak somewhere in my slave cylinder. I was having major trouble gettin in gear untill i checked it, and it was way low, empty, so i filled it up and its driving better. So when i install the y-pipe, i just want to get under there find the leak, and put some new fluid in the tranny.

1st. Fix the leak and BLEED the clutch pedal. It's probably the reason it's hard to get into gear. ie.. not pushing the clutch down far enough to fully disengage.

ok i do push the clutch fully down to disengage it, i know how to drive it. When i bought the car the guy who sold it to me just had the clutch installed. It is a new clutch and he had the receipt for it. I don't believe they changed the tranny fluid though. I was just going to replace it with something better. Find the leak and i'll bleed them, and see if that fixes the problem. The same thing happend to my Z. I did what i plan on doing to this, and it help alot, but second and fourth still grinded a little bit. The synchros were trying to go out on me. I just dont know what kind i should get or the weight i should get to.

Check the fluids section. Redline or Amsoil.

i would definitely bleed the clutch line. that could be a lot of your problems. when you buy the gear oil be sure you don't get gl-5 oil. get the gl-4 because gl-5 eats away yellow metal (our syncros are made of brass).
