digital touch entry problems

starting about 2 days ago the touchpads stopped working. nothing happens when the buttons are pressed. i checked all the fuses and tried disconnecting the battery. when i reattached the positive battery terminal the pads make a single beep and the green backlights come on for about 5 seconds. once again nothing. the keys dont respond at all. anyone have any ideas?

try disconnecting your neg terminal for about an hour or so. it will reset the ecu and everything else. it worked for me

also the backilight should only have been on for about 5 seconds anyway, youll have to re-make a code using the override

disconnecting the negative terminal made no difference. the pads still do nothing when you press them. i think the control unit may be bad. does anyone know where it is located? if i were to get one from a junk yard i would need to get the code from under the dash?

you can get one from the junkyard, cant guarantee its gonna work, but its worth a try, just make sure you find one with a master code.

this is what you have to do to find the gold control box.

1. Remove the screws from the glove compartment (the screws by the hinges of the compartment and at the top.

2. Remove the Glove Compartment, it should pop right out after you remove the screws.

3. if toy look towards the right corner of where the glove compartment used to be, you should find the gold colored box.

4. Theres some numbers on the box. Write down the 7 numbers that begins with the S #######

5. Press ST/CL on the pad, then push in the 7 digits. If you done this correctly, you should hear a 6-10 second beep, during this beep, punch in the desired 4-7 digit code. If you done this correctly, it should beep after you the 6-10 second beep.

6. Re-assemble Glove Compartment

I mean, if your keys beep and the lights come on, i guess it should work if you just reprogram the keys.

you dont have to go through the trouble of taking out the glove compartment..You just have to go on your back on the passenger side floor, and look to the left of the glove box, and way up as if your looking at the bottom of the dash board and you should see a gold color box...you'll need a flash light though, its dark in there..

im going to take everyones advice and try hunting the junkyard for another DTE control unit. the unit its self should have the code on it. if it works i should be able to reprogram the system using the new code. ill keep everyone posted. one last question, should i rob anymore parts from the junkyard? are there other portions of the digital touch entry system othen than the control unit that are essential to opertation?

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but my driver side keypad works fine and everything, but my passenger side lost it's beep and sometimes it'll light up and beep and sometimes it won't? It's really weird.
